Danny’s fan

Image

Danny has a guitar,

Danny has a guitar and plays it

He is 8, he is sad, he is alone, he plays it.

Danny is 30.

He has a bottle of scotch.

And a bag of drugs.

And a guitar

And he plays it.

Danny is 35 and he is on the stage

He has a guitar

And singing fans

And a bottle of scotch

And a bag of drugs.

He is happy and he plays it.

Danny is 36/37/38/39

Danny is on the stage

He has an empty bag.

Danny

Danny is

Danny was

Danny closes his eyes

Danny is on the stage

The drugs are guitars

Danny is a guitar

And he plays himself

And he laughs

The bottle is empty

The crowd is gone

The walls start to fall.

Danny is

Danny was

Danny is swallowed up by the floor.

And he laughs

Danny is not

The guitar laughs

Danny is not

Danny what?

Danny is gone.

Gone?

Danny is on my mind…

  1. I’ve seen too many bright talented people succumb to addiction including my daughters father. I think you capture the initial high, the inevitable descent, and give the reader a glimpse into how it started before it started. 🙂

  2. Whoa, you’re style is addictive. Just thought I’d drop that comment in. I won’t bombard you with comments, but that had to be said. It’s rare that I find a style that accomplishes that for me. Save for Hemingway, which is a completely different process, but whatever, you know what I’m sayin’. Have a great night.
